This exquisite Schneeballen cup is a reproduction of Meissen’s renowned “snowball” designs, featuring a fully encrusted surface of small hand-applied porcelain blossoms, delicate painted insects, and a sculptural green branch-form handle. Produced by Arnart Imports, this particular style indicates strong influence from the 19th-century Rococo revival, where porcelain artistry reached dramatic visual heights.
Of Meissen’s work, Schneeballen pieces were prized for their lavish decoration and technical challenge. Every floral form was applied by hand, making each piece unique and labor-intensive to produce. This reproduction does an excellent job of capturing the labor of love involved in the making of these pieces.
Note that the top handle has a missing element, likely a knob which appears ot have snapped off at some point. The damaged area is smooth and doesn’t hinder appearance or function.
