Description

Cherry China Violet Bowls — sweet and refined tableware from midcentury Japan. These porcelain berry bowls feature delicate violet blossoms scattered across a white field, bordered by a gently scalloped edge and finished with hand-applied gold trim. The pieces are marked “Cherry China” and “Japan” on the underside — consistent with export wares produced in the postwar era.

Floral patterns, especially violets, symbolized modesty and tenderness, and were widely used in romantic-style porcelain throughout the 1940s–60s. The combination of violet sprigs and gold detailing would’ve made these suitable for both daily use and cabinet display — especially in traditional or Victorian revival interiors.
